Who is Doğa Noyan?
I was born on January 31, 2000 in Famagusta. First of all, I would like to start my interview by thanking and talking about my family. My family has always come first in my life and it is impossible for me to write down how precious they are to me. I have always been proud of them in every way. I have two younger brothers. Our youngest İbrahim is 8 years old, and my middle brother Gökhan is 18 years old. I am proud to be their older sister and I love them very much. I started my education at the Eastern Mediterranean Primary School. I completed my high school education at Doğu Akdeniz Doğa College. I am currently a 3rd year student at Eastern Mediterranean University, Department of International Trade and Business Administration (English). After graduating in February 2022, I want to both work in the company and do my master’s degree. Thus, I will be able to contribute both to my development and to our company. I also have different thoughts on the subject of master’s degree. But I haven’t made it clear yet. While I am aware that a significant part of our life will include business life, I have also always made sports and hobbies a part of my life. I actively cycle in the Green Pedal Cycling Club, which my father played a major role in its founding, and I also enjoy this sport very much because we do this sport as a family. Playing the piano and painting are among my main hobbies. I am very happy to be the third generation member of Noyanlar Group of Companies, which has been our family company since 1973. For this reason, I have been trying to enter the work-life in a way that will contribute to the company for about 3 years, while benefiting from the experiences of both my grandfather and my father. I would like to point out that I am very happy to start from the core. I am very grateful to them for the opportunities my family gave me. I still take both my education and company work together and it gives me great pleasure.
Was your dream job to head the company or did you have other dreams? If so, what were they and why did you give up?
Ever since I was little, I cared a lot about being a part of our own company. The source of this motivation was the role model created by my parents. Their success in business life has always been a source of pride for me as the eldest child of the family. So thank you both again. One day, I want to make them feel proud of my achievements. Our company carries itself forward with the confidence it gives every year. In this process, we have targeted not only domestic but also foreign markets. For this reason, I also went to many fairs that our company participated in abroad in the past. Being given these opportunities at an early age made me feel more curious, excited, passionate about work, and see myself as an important part of the company. As a result of all these, I also developed the self-confidence to take part in the top management of the company in the future. I know my grandparents, mom and dad trust me. I will not let these feelings go to waste. Creating our company, which has a history of nearly 50 years, from scratch and bringing it to the present was only possible by doing the job with love and with serious discipline. I will follow the same path. Thanks to them, I learned how hard they worked to get to this point and that we should always put our family first. When it is said that it is very important to do a job with love, the picture that always comes to my mind is how they shine.
What innovation will you add to the company in addition to the existing management system?
Will you continue with the old management system like a traditionalist or you would consider bringing a new system with an innovative structure? If you have a new system, what kind of things do you think to do in your mind? As you know, our company is a family business. Family businesses need to be institutionalized in order to carry them into the future for generations. Our company is progressing successfully on the path of institutionalization. One of my most important tasks in the future will be to develop the corporate structure in accordance with the conditions of the day. The traditional structure was the right method for the first generation. After the transition to the second generation with my fathers, the developments in technology along with the traditional structure contributed to the development of our company. As the 3rd generation, me and my brothers will take the positive aspects of the traditional structure, but cognizance of recurring changes in the world, we will work within a strong corporate structure that is innovative, open to development and uses technology in every field. I care a lot about the level of technology and the direction it is going. I do not believe that any company that cannot use technology can survive properly. For example, highlighting digital marketing instead of traditional marketing. Digital marketing shows us that we can increase our online sales and that we can achieve this by opening up to the whole world. Therefore, our company has given great importance to technology infrastructure investments in recent years. We actively use all social media tools. In addition to the technology investments that I mentioned briefly above, I think that we should first establish our human resources and legal department in order to strengthen our corporate structure. In addition, it will always be my duty to develop and manage my efforts in a team spirit in order to increase its competitive power in the market.
What is your worldview? What would you do if you had a magic wand?
If I had a magic wand, I would like to highlight the power of love and destroy hatred, grudge, anger and violence. I would like to eliminate the wars, poverty, hunger, bad environment and lead a humane life in this short period of life, and I think that this is the right of everyone in the world.
Finally, what advice would you like to give to those who will start their careers at an early age?
My most important advice to my friends who want to start a business at an early age is that they start from somewhere, confidently and without fear. Also, believing in the importance of lifelong education and training, I advise them to look at life with the mindset that there is always something to learn. No matter what age we are or what experience we have, the key to success comes from hard work. But our whole life cannot be spent working. That’s why I care about having our own time and hobbies. Starting business life at an early age will help them with more experience, more planning, being organized, having a broad perspective, and most importantly, where they want to see themselves in the future. They will be able to take their steps more confidently and analyze risk angles more easily. They will be able to develop human relations and get to know themselves better, and these will always remain as golden experiences in our lives.
